THE MAMBO KING

PEREZ PRADO SUCCESSI NEL MONDO (1976)

If, in the next series of Mad Men, Donald Draper finds himself in a Mexican beach town, no doubt the episode would be sound-tracked by the Mambo King, Perez Prado.  His comical playfulness, belies a suave sophistication, leaving the vibes somewhere between a mariachi band and smooth jazz.  No wonder his music has been the fodder of so many soundtracks.  If it’s been a hard day at the office, find some Cuban dark rum, kick back to anything from Prado and focus on the girl on the cover. Track: Flamingo.
